Volunteer Opportunities
Do you love animals but can't have a pet of your own? Are you looking for valuable experience prior to seeking a career as a veterinary technician or a veterinarian? Or would you just like to have a positive impact on homeless pets? If you are 16 years of age or older, WCHS may be a great place for you to volunteer!
The Whitman County Humane Society is looking for volunteers to make a difference for the pets at our animal shelter. Every volunteer is a valuable asset.
You must complete a WCHS Volunteer Application and be approved before volunteering or performing court-appointed community service. Applications can be completed online. Our staff will review your application and contact you within a few days.
After your application is approved, you must attend one volunteer orientation shift at the shelter (1340 Old Moscow Rd, Pullman). We host two types of orientations and you are welcome to attend either one or even both! You must be 18 years or older to be eligible for dog walking/enrichment orientation. Please call (509) 332-3422 to schedule your orientation shift(s) upon receiving an acceptance email!
*Due to space and time constraints, WCHS, unfortunately, cannot always accept walk-ins for training. Thank you for your understanding!
Volunteer duties include animal care, shelter cleaning and maintenance, cat and/or dog socialization, and representing WCHS in the community. Animal care is our highest priority and need at WCHS. Other tasks may be performed by volunteers depending on each individual's experience and training.
