The Whitman County Humane Society (WCHS) is pleased to announce the 13th Annual Fur Ball & Yappy Hour!

The Good, The Bad, & The Snuggly

February 22, 2020     SEL Event Center

*Doors Open at 4 PM*

The evening will feature Mayor Glenn Johnson as the emcee,  our beloved Parade of Pets, a delicious catered dinner by Happy Day Catering, and fun silent and live auctions.  Our keynote speaker will be Renee Piper.

Renee Piper is a professional dog trainer in the Palouse and owner of Tail Waggin’ Adventures. She brings over 20 years’ experience with dogs and understands what comfort animals can do for people. She founded Palouse Paws, a therapy dog non-profit organization, in 2012, and in 2018, became the Area Coordinator for HOPE AACR – Animal Assisted Crisis Response. Renee has been a volunteer puppy-raiser for Canine Companions for Independence since 2010, and is currently raising her eighth puppy, Kara, for CCI.

Renee will talk about the joy and responsibility of adopting a dog in to your household, and the value of the human-animal bond. She will discuss various resources available to you which will enhance the relationship between you and your dog, and will share a few examples of shelter dogs that she has mentored to become “Good Dogs”.

To get a head start on your auction bidding, you can preview our auction items on the auction website HERE!

Our community's non-profit, no-kill animal shelter, Animal Haven, cares for over 500 homeless animals each year until they can be placed in their forever homes.  Please help us continue this important work.  With your generous support for the annual Fur Ball fundraiser, we hope to raise approximately 25% of WCHS’s annual operating costs.

Options for your support include:

  • Becoming an event sponsor.
  • Purchasing tickets for the event.
  • Contributing an item to our live or silent auctions.
  • Making a donation in honor of Fur Ball for the animals at the shelter.

Click the link at the top of this page to purchase tickets online by credit card.  If you prefer to pay by check, email to make arrangements for tickets or to ask any questions. For contributions to our auction or to inquire about sponsorships, email and a member of the Fur Ball Committee will get back to you and make arrangements.  You can also contact the shelter at 509-332-3422.

On behalf of the Whitman County Humane Society board of directors and shelter staff, thank you in advance for making a difference through your support.  We hope to see you at Fur Ball 2020!
