Volunteers are an integral part of the work we do, and our mission at Whitman County Humane Society. Our volunteers are critical partners in everything we do and a valuable resource working alongside our staff as champions for the homeless pets of Whitman County.
No matter which kind of volunteer opportunity you choose—whether as an individual or group—when you volunteer you foster positive change in our community, enrich your life and brighten the world of those you serve. We offer a variety of ways to volunteer whether that be at the shelter working with animals, helping maintain our buildings and outdoor areas, fundraising and community outreach, or serving on a committee. Explore our currently open positions or tell us your ideas about how you can best contribute your unique skills and resources.
We have a variety of short term and long term volunteer opportunities available to fit your schedule. Volunteers working at the shelter must be 16 years of age or older and attend a training session. Click to see additional details on our shelter volunteer opportunities and fill out an application.
We always need volunteers to help us plan and execute our fundraising events and community outreach activities.
Your efforts will make an impact and you are guaranteed to have a great time! Check out our various committees and events coming up and how you can help.
Group volunteer projects provide a fun, meaningful way to spend a day together making a difference. There are always projects at the shelter including grounds maintenance like weeding and pruning that need done. We would love to work with your group!
