Director of Shelter Operations:
The Director of Shelter Operations of WCHS will supervise all aspects of the operation of the Shelter in accordance with board-approved bylaws and policies/procedures.
In this position the Director of Shelter Operations serves as a liaison between the Board of Directors (Board), the community, municipal partners, and the shelter staff. The Director of Shelter Operations will uphold the mission of WCHS to promote its goals. They will work directly with the Board in making decisions that are in the best interest of the animals and WCHS as a whole.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older. Must also have a clean driving record as employee may be responsible for driving the shelter vehicle. Previous shelter experience or animal care/handling experience is preferred.
Must be willing to work weekdays, holidays and some weekends.

- Operate and maintain a safe work environment for all employees, animals and volunteers
- Responsible for meeting the objectives the WCHS Mission
- Oversee operations to ensure optimal animal care, and maintaining the highest standards for all animals in the shelter/ foster care environment
- Ensures all Standard Operating Procedures are followed by all staff
- Oversees the hiring of new staff and evaluates job performance
- Authorizes Staff salary increases within the Board of Directors guidelines.
- Maintains records and analyzes statistical data for presentation to the Board of Directors
- Operates, Maintains, and manages social media sites
- Meets and/ or communicates with the board of directors regularly
- Organizes staff training, regular staff meetings, staff education and overall development of employees
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with other shelters and veterinary clinics
- Oversees the volunteer program including recognition and proper use of the volunteers
