Sydney & Shelby
Two weeks before Christmas 2002, we learned of two beautiful Border Collie/Aussie mixes whose owner wanted them euthanized rather than have their knees treated. We agreed to help, and went to pick them up from their foster family.
The minute we walked in the door and saw those two pairs of soulful brown eyes, we knew we were hooked. Sweet and affectionate, they wanted only to be held and petted. They were so unsure of themselves that we had to coax them to eat after we brought them home.
Five days later we took them for the necessary operations. For the next four weeks, we cared for them and tried to give them a sense of belonging to a family again. So of course we knew that we had to adopt them how could we give them up after all that? We are grateful for the opportunity to expand our family with Sydney and Shelby.
