Is the Whitman County Humane Society a "no-kill" shelter?
  We are a no-kill shelter. No-kill means saving all adoptable (healthy or treatable) animals with good temperaments. Euthanasia is reserved only for those animals with terminal illnesses or terminal injuries or cannot be rehabilitated. Whitman County Humane Society is committed to finding good homes for all of its adoptable pets.

What does the Whitman County Humane Society do?
  We promote humane treatment, spay and neutering, and responsible care of animals through public education and training programs. We provide a humane shelter environment and care for stray, abandoned, abused, or neglected animals in Whitman County. We provide adoption services of companion animals to the public.

The Whitman County Humane Society publishes a monthly newsletter full of information on veterinary care and health tips, adoption success stories, and other community service programs available from Whitman County Humane Society. Subscription to the newsletter is one of the benefits of membership. To join please call our office at 509-332-2246 to receive a membership brochure.

I'd like to make a donation. Where do I send it?
  Whitman County Humane Society is supported in large part by kind and generous people like you. Your donation, great or small, is a true act of friendship to the homeless animals in our community. Donations may be made in the form of a membership contribution, a memorial tribute to a beloved pet or person, or as a membership gift to a friend or family member.

For information about Bequests and Planned Giving, please contact our administrative office at 509 332-2246. Provide a lasting gift to the animals and earn tax credits during your lifetime or for your estate and heirs.

A contribution of $29 or more will entitle you to an annual membership. All donations provide you a subscription to our newsletter.

You may send your contributions to: Whitman County Humane Society, 126 S. Grand Ave, Pullman WA 99163. Contributions are also accepted on-line through the secure donation site on this website. Thank you for supporting the animals!

Can I donate food or supplies?
  The Whitman County Humane Society pet shelter is in need of certain pet foods and animal care items.

Animal Care Items: Please call the shelter staff @ 332-3422 to inquire about immediate needs.

Shelter Supplies: Paper Towels, Liquid Hand Soap, Hand Sanitizer, Liquid Dish Soap, Fly Strips, 33-Gallon Garbage Bags, Laundry Soap, and Bleach

Office Supplies: Printer Paper 8 1/2 x 11, Paper Clips, Printer Cartridges: Please call the admin. office @ 332-2246 to inquire which printer cartridges are needed at this time..
Make a donation by dropping off your items at the shelter on NW 635 Guy Street in Pullman.

I lost my pet. Do you have it?
  If you have lost a pet in Whitman County, please contact the Whitman County Humane Society at 509-332-3422 or try looking at our Lost and Found page first. To report a stray in the city of Pullman, please call the Pullman Police Department at 509-334-0802.

All lost-and-found pets from Latah County should be reported to the Humane Society of the Palouse located in Moscow, Idaho. Their phone number is 208-883-1166.

How can we become a pet Foster Home?
  Whitman County Humane Society maintains a program for short and long-term foster care for many of our adoptable companion animals. To find out more about how to become a foster parent, please contact administrative manager Marie Dymkoski at 509-332-2246 or by email.

Can anyone adopt a pet?
  All our pets are listed on PetFinder, a pet adoption database.
Anyone can apply for a pet. Download one of the PDF forms below, print it out, fill it in, and submit it by mail or in person. The Whitman County Humane Society, Inc. shelter manager or staff reserve the right to refuse adoptions. This is to protect the animals from hazards. Not all pets are suited for all environments.

Do you accept volunteer workers?
  Volunteers are needed to help with animal socialization and exercise, feeding, cleaning, and general office assistance. To find out more about our volunteer program or to schedule a time to volunteer, please contact administrative manager Marie Dymkoski at 509 332-2246 or by email. Please download an application form, print it and submit it by mail or in-person. Volunteer orientation and training classes will be scheduled on Wednesday at 3:15 pm and Saturday at 1:30 pm.

When is the shelter open?
  The shelter is open to the public:
Monday, Friday, Saturday 1 pm to 6 pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1 pm to 5:30 pm
New Sunday Hours!!!! 1 pm to 4 pm

The shelter is closed 8:30 am - 1 pm due to cleaning, animal care and medication, and animal training purposes.
The shelter is closed on New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
