What's Happening at the Shelter
The Shelter is the happening place for our Humane Society! This
page is provided so the folks at the shelter can tell you what is going on
there - from who is volunteering, to how many animals we have, to needed
supplies, to special events.

- Holiday season is upon us and it is time to think about
boarding for your pets while you travel. It is not too early to make those
reservations at the kennel or secure a pet sitter to make house calls. Don't
procrastinate - make that call today!
- We are in need of winter volunteers!! Please call the shelter
to sign up!
- We would like to have a list of people willing to become foster
parents for some of our animals. To find out more about this opportunity,
please call Teresa at the
- Shelter
- PetFinder is updating their site so that we will be able to add
video clips of our adoption animals. If you would like to help us purchase a
video camera for this project, please label your donation "video camera" and
mail it to 126 S. Grand, Pullman, WA 99163.
- Winter is approaching and it is important to plan a way
for your pets to safely get in out of the severe weather. It is also a good
time to check your pets' vaccination records and make sure they are current and
complete.
- Reminder: Pullman requires all dogs living in the city
to be licensed. Contact Code enforcement at the police dept for details. When
properly identified either through a license or a microchip (microchips can not
be lost or removed from your pet) it is much easier and faster to reunite pets
and owners.
- The stray cat population in Pullman is extremely high. At the
same time our list of lost cats continues to grow. Let's try to help each other
by reporting found cats to WCHS so that we can try to match them with lost cats
in our files. A picture is worth a thousand words. Sending us a picture of any
Lost or Found kitty in your neighborhood will help us be more successful in
reuniting owners and cats and you won't have to worry about how that poor stray
kitty is going to survive through the winter.
- Kittens versus Adult Cats: We all know how cute those
tiny kittens are, but they also require much more work and effort than an adult
cat. Kittens need to be trained but an adult cat already has the litter box
routine down. Kittens are overly curious and mischievous but an adult cat has
already 'been there, done that' and enters your home calmer and less demanding.
We have many wonderful adult cats waiting for a chance to give you love and
affection. Won't you consider adopting an adult cat?
- Foster versus Adopting : Sometimes adopting an animal is
not the best choice. If you are a student from somewhere outside the Palouse,
and you aren't sure you will be able to take the animal with you when you leave
- you might want to consider Fostering an animal instead of adopting. Call the
Shelter and we'll talk about what would be best for
you and your pet.
